Life is sometimes delightfully busy - for me, this year has included family birthdays with 0's at the end, family weddings with all the associated pre-wedding events and trips, changes to working patterns, training courses.... and then before we know it the months have flown past! This picture - for me - contains all the elements I associate with relaxing in the middle of the busy seasons. I can picture myself walking in the dappled sunshine by the water's edge, breathing more deeply, slowing down and appreciating how grounded I feel amongst trees. And as I do that I feel every part of my body become calmer. I find that is necessary even when the busy-ness of life is about celebrations!
Believe it or not, excitement and anxiety can physically feel very similar and our bodies are not always good at working out which emotion is underpinning the physical stress we are experiencing. Whether it is good stress or bad stress, we need to take time to rest, recover and re-energise. How do you take time to slow down in busy seasons? If you are processing your own busy seasons, counselling may help you regain your equilibrium and perspective.
